Beer Experience, the trade show for the professional brewing trade, returns to Antwerp this month. But what can visitors expect? db finds out.

The show, which will feature a day of networking on stands alongside insight-driven sessions within a full conference programme, aims to stay “sharply focused” on what matters in the sector. But what is that exactly?

Entire value chain

In essence, the fair offers the chance to connect. Described as a “melting pot” of brewers, suppliers, marketers, the day sets out to unite the industry and represent those offering up brewing ingredients and packaging materials as well as a whole host of attendees and speakers who have advice, offer educational services and consultancy.

The fair will take place on 23 February at Stadsbrouwerij De Koninck and is set to attract professionals from across the trade who are keen to network with others connected to the beer sector across the entire value chain.

The intention of its organisers is to showcase “experience, knowledge and connection” and this year’s show promises “no soulless halls” and instead heralds its locations as “an inspiring setting”.

Speaking about the day, BeComev’s events organisers Thomas Costenoble and Luc De Raedemaeker highlighted that as Beer Experience “beer breathes from every brick” and insisted: “You feel it” with visitors getting to indulge in the show’s “well-designed parcours” which offer “no chaos, just flow”.

According to Costenoble and Raedemaeker: “Exhibitors form the beating heart of Beer Experience, with the event seeing notable exhibitors such as “Antoine, Atlas Copco, Belgomalt, Brouwland, Castle Malting, Fermentis, GAI, HVB-IMTC and Micro-Matic” among “many others” being there.

Advice-led

The day will cover topics such as: “Brewing techniques, ingredients, packaging, marketing, sales and positioning” as well as offer “practical, to the point and straight from the field” advice and guidance and claiming to be a trade show that has “no fluff, just substance” and represent “small groups” and “plenty of interaction”.

There will be sessions such as “State of the Belgian Brewing Industry with Alain De Laet and Krishan Maudgal, Sour Beers with Lauren Torres, or Quiet Branding with experts from Westmalle and Orval, and much more,” said the organisers.

Beyond the talks, there is set to be “ample room to network, catch up, start new collaborations and find inspiration among passionate exhibitors”. Later, at around 6pm on the day, master brewer Sven De Kleermaeker is set to tap a barrel of Russian imperial stout, aged to the tones of Barry White.
