Taste Spain London to immerse visitors in Spanish produce
Next week’s Taste Spain London event promises to join the nation’s food and beverage industries, putting Spain “at the forefront of the culinary world”.

A brand-new event, Taste Spain London, is arriving in the capital on 24 February, offering the chance to explore the best of Spanish produce. The daytime tasting, organised by Foods and Wines from Spain, will focus on the country’s diverse flavours and its potential for food and wine pairing. With workshops, chefs’ demos, wine tutorials and pairing masterclasses, as well as exhibiting producers and distributors, the day promises a wide-ranging survey of Spain’s best food and wine.
Among the highlights are a series of tastings, talks and masterclasses. On the wine side, experts will weigh in on topics such as under-the-radar Campo de Borja DO, the increasingly popular wines of Rías Baixas and the rise of Vinos de Pago and small DOs. Highlights of the food offering include chefs’ demos and an extra virgin olive oil masterclass.
The two areas are not being kept separate, however. Ferrán Centelles, Spanish wine expert and former sommelier at El Bulli, will bring three iconic Spanish products together in one of the day’s highlights: a Cava, Sherry and Iberian ham pairing masterclass.
“Food and wine reflect the very best of our culture: passion for the finest ingredients, love of artisanal tradition, and respect for culinary excellence,” comments Fernando Muñoz, director at Foods and Wines from Spain UK. “This, coupled with the energy and vision of new generations of Spanish producers, restaurateurs and chefs, puts Spain at the forefront of the culinary world. Taste Spain London will invite visitors to immerse themselves in the aromas and flavours of Spain and spend the day tasting, learning and connecting with our producers.”
Business opportunities
For those looking to bolster their selection of Spanish wine, the event already has a long list of exhibitors confirmed. They encompass both established names and new entrants to the UK market.
Several of the UK’s most significant importers will present their flagship Spanish wines. Visitors will find benchmark Riojas such as CVNE (Hatch Mansfield), Bodegas Artadi (Pol Roger) and Bodegas Manzanos (Alliance Wine). Other importers will reference emerging trends in Spanish wine: for instance, Vintage Roots has a selection of organic and biodynamic wines, while Ultracomida will bring wines from across Spain and fine ciders from Asturias.
Visitors will also have the chance to meet winemakers seeking UK representation. Those wineries hail from a checklist of iconic Spanish wine regions: the likes of Bodegas Otazu from Navarra and Finca Rodma from Ribera del Duero. There will also be Huerta de Albalá from sun-drenched Andalusia and Bodegas Quinta de Aves from Campo de Calatrava, one of Spain’s newest appellations, as well as many more.
The tasting runs from 11am to 4pm on 24 February at Mare Street Market, King’s Cross, London. It is exclusively for the food and drink trade and press.
