A gin inspired by Japanese nashi pear will be rolled out in M&S stores and online next month as part of the retailer’s premium spirits range.

Ukiyo Nashi Pear Gin Debuts M&S

Kirker Greer Spirits has announced the release of Ukiyo Japanese Nashi Pear Gin, which will be available in more than 300 M&S stores nationwide and online via Ocado.com from February.

The product, inspired by nashi pear, is the latest addition to the Ukiyo portfolio and is positioned as a premium, fruit-forward gin influenced by Japanese flavour profiles.

The company said the launch reflects rising consumer interest in flavour-led spirits and Asian-inspired serves within the gin category.

Giota Polyzoudi, senior spirits buyer at M&S, said: “Ukiyo has genuine brand credentials that support a strong retail story and consumer trust.”

Ukiyo gin is distilled in Chiba, east of Tokyo, in Japan. The spirits are made from a base of rice, enhanced by Japanese botanicals.

Gunning for premium

Ryan McFarland, chief commercial and strategy officer of Drinksology Kirker Greer, said the launch was an “exciting start” to 2026 for Ukiyo and Kirker Greer Spirits.

“Working closely with M&S to create a bespoke expression not only deepens our partnership but also reinforces category differentiation and the premium positioning of the Ukiyo range,” he said. “It offers shoppers a high-quality, exclusive option while supporting wider portfolio visibility.”

Ukiyo Japanese Nashi Pear Gin will retail at £32 and will be sold exclusively through M&S stores and Ocado.com.
