Poco Vino: the little wine going big globally

Australian Vintage has entered into an agreement with Hong Kong’s DFI Retail Group to launch its range of Poco Vino wines through Black Type following debuts in the UK and Australia.

Poco Vino launch Hong Kong

Poco Vino is poised to enter the Asian market hot on the heels of successful launches in the UK and Australia last May and October, respectively.

The small format wine by Australian Vintage will be available in Hong Kong courtesy of specialist beverage distributor Black Type.

Based in Hong Kong, Black Type brings to the table its deep retail execution expertise and strategic alignment with key major retailers and on-trade customers.

As an innovation spearheaded by ASX-listed Australian Vintage, Poco Vino was designed to make drinking wine simple, easy and accessible without compromising style or substance.

Challenging tradition

Sold through 187mL single-serve tubes in a rainbow of hues, it comes in Rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Pinot Grigio.

From its slim format to its bold look, Poco Vino is positioned to challenge traditional wine drinking practices with premium wines tailored for modern lifestyles.

Through Black Type, the full spectrum of Poco Vino wines is slated to be on sale in 50 DFI Retail Group stores via 60 self-standing display units starting 29 January 2026.

Tapping a new consumer base

The landmark agreement offered Poco Vino a vital and direct path to quickly reach mainstream consumers.

“Poco Vino represents a new way of engaging wine consumers,” said Kate Williams, head of Asia at Australian Vintage. “Perfectly portioned, endlessly versatile and aligned with how people shop today. It’s the wine that fits your life, not the other way around.

“Launching this format in Hong Kong with Black Type and DFI Retail Group is a strong endorsement of the brand and our commitment to innovation across Asia.”

A bright future

Nimbility provided assistance to Australian Vintage and Black Type to facilitate the Poco Vino agreement.

Nimbility co-founder Polly Aylwin-Foster noted that the “DFI Retail Group launch has the potential to be a real game-changer for how wine projects come to life in Hong Kong.

“It demonstrates how innovative formats, when paired with the right retail partner, can unlock entirely new customer occasions.

“We see this as a blueprint that could pave the way for broader opportunities for Poco Vino with other major retailers in the region.”
