World’s first ‘board game beer’ launches in the UK

Salt Beer Factory has teamed up with Big Potato Games to release an India Pale Lager that has been inspired by the party game Herd Mentality.

The 4.5% ABV lager, which is being heralded as “the world’s first board game beer” has been brewed with Citra hops, giving it “a clean profile with subtle hints of stone fruit and blackcurrant,” according to the brewer.

Free game

Every can of Salt Beer Factory’s Herd Mentality beer will include a QR code that unlocks a free digital mini version of Herd Mentality. This means that consumers can open a can of the beer, scan the code and jump straight into a quick round of the game.

Describing the tie-up, Big Potato Games head of marketing Becky McKinlay said: “Our goal has always been to light up the moments we spend together, and Herd Mentality has done that brilliantly around tables everywhere.”

‘Genuinely different’

Salt Beer Factory sales director Richard Nelson explained: “At Salt we are constantly wanting to innovate and not settle for the ordinary. Partnering with the incredible Big Potato Games has given us the opportunity to do something genuinely different, and that’s exactly what excites us, and hopefully customers nationally.”

McKinlay added: “Partnering with Salt to craft a beer made for sharing feels like the perfect collab.”
