#WeekInPictures: Champagne, cars and creative pairings
From Hampton Court’s Concours of Elegance to Emmy night in LA, via Scottish crime writing and a bold Scottish investment, here’s what caught our eye this week.
Hampton Court swaps hooves for horsepower

Once the palace where Henry VIII bred his thunderous steeds, Hampton Court swapped hooves for horsepower at the Concours of Elegance. Alongside a flamboyant 1926 Rolls-Royce Phantom I and the space-age Mercedes-Benz C 111-II, the real fuel came from Charles Heidsieck Champagne, notably its bright, pineapple-scented Blanc de Blancs with 25% reserve wines.

Marshall and Cooper Koch. Brand ambassadors and senior figures from parent company The Duckhorn Portfolio joined the celebrations, marking the start of a multi-year partnership.

ABV-free pairings reach new heights at Gordon Ramsay High

At Restaurant Gordon Ramsay High, 60 floors up, Majken Bech-Bailey’s BÆK drinks formed the backbone of James Goodyear’s Carte Blanche menu. Refined over 12 years and first acclaimed at Aimsir in Ireland, her zero-alcohol pairings included hops foamed through a siphon, Mellow (Chardonnay and apple washed in beeswax), coconut water with pineapple weed and Intricate – a bold mix of merlot, aronia, black tea and Alexandra seeds. BÆK (Danish for “stream”), pronounced like her surname, now flows sky-high, with retail launches to follow.
