The band’s company Queen Productions Ltd has filed to trademark the distinctive crest logo for alcoholic beverages including wine, as confirmed in official UK records (UKIPO, August 2025). This step has sparked speculation that a Queen-branded bottle will soon reach shelves, according to trade coverage from Noise11.

An insider cited by the Daily Star said, “Queen are joining the wine game. Booze has proved to be a very lucrative market and they’re throwing their hats into the ring. It’s all very early days, but the plan is to get the trademark approved and then get moving on production.”

From Killer Queen vodka to wine

This is not the first time Queen have ventured into drinks branding. In 2014, the band launched Killer Queen vodka, distilled seven times in Latvia and filtered through quartz sand and birch charcoal. Brian May described the distillery as “the Willy Wonka chocolate factory for adults” and said that Freddie Mercury “loved vodka and used to carry a dry ice cooler full of it on tour,” as reported by the drinks business.

The vodka was pitched as a quality tribute to Mercury and suggests that any wine under the Queen name will be treated as more than a novelty product.

Band involvement and brand positioning

The filing indicates that the band, now fronted by May and Roger Taylor, intend to retain direct control over the image and presentation of any wine label. Noise11 commented that the move is designed to safeguard quality and authenticity rather than leave the Queen name open to misuse.

Although no producer or region has been confirmed, industry precedent suggests the band may collaborate with an established winery or négociant.

Anticipated wine and distribution

The UK trademark covers “alcoholic beverages; wine” without narrowing to a particular style. The intention is to begin production once the trademark is approved, making a release in late 2025 or 2026 most likely.

Early speculation points to a UK debut with international rollout to follow. Commentators have suggested the wines could become collectors’ items, much like Queen’s deluxe albums or memorabilia, though no official confirmation has been given.

Packaging and presentation

The wine bottles are expected to carry the ornate crest designed by Mercury himself, which incorporates the zodiac symbols of all four members and a phoenix rising above a crown. This heraldic logo is almost tailor-made for a wine label and will lend the bottles instant presence on the shelf.

It remains to be seen whether Queen’s wine will prove as enduring as their music. What is certain is that the band have moved beyond idle merchandising to secure the legal and branding framework for a serious entry into the drinks trade.
