Pol Roger touch rugby tournament raises £11k for The Drinks Trust
The Pol Roger Touch Rugby Tournament returned to Battersea Ironsides Rugby Club on Thursday, uniting the drinks trade for a day of sport, networking and fundraising.

Record fundraising total
Now in its seventh year, the tournament drew 24 teams from 23 drinks companies. Together they raised £11,000 for The Drinks Trust, taking the total generated by the event since its inception to more than £30,000.
Funds will support The Drinks Trust’s work providing financial help, wellbeing support and educational opportunities to those in the drinks and hospitality sector.
Pol Roger managing director James Simpson MW said: “It is inspiring to see so many competitors come together to make a real difference. The Drinks Trust plays a vital role in our industry, and we are proud that this tournament has become such a fixture in the Wine Trade Calendar – both for the competition and the cause. Winning the tournament for the first time was the icing on the cake as well.”

Team Pol Roger’s first win
For the first time, Pol Roger’s own team took home the trophy, beating Hallgarten in a competitive final. Former England internationals Anthony Watson and Jonathan Joseph presented the prizes.
The day also featured sideline games run by The Drinks Trust, refreshments, networking and a raffle. Volunteer referees were thanked for ensuring smooth play throughout.
The Drinks Trust CEO Nicola Burston said: “We are incredibly grateful to Pol Roger for their continued support and for organising another fantastic edition of the Touch Rugby Tournament. Events like these not only bring our industry together in the spirit of camaraderie, but also make a tangible impact on the lives of those we help. Raising over £10,000 towards our Face It Together campaign is a remarkable achievement, and we extend our sincere thanks to all the teams, participants, and supporters who made it possible. A special congratulations to Pol Roger on their well-earned win – a fitting reward for their dedication both on and off the field.”
The tournament’s next edition is set for Thursday 13 August 2026.
