Business as usual for Brangelina at Miraval

Despite separating in 2016, it’s business as usual for actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at their Provence estate Château Miraval, as they prepare to launch their sixth and “best” vintage rosé.

Mac Perrin, owner of Château de Beaucastel in the Rhône, who makes Miraval’s wines in collaboration with Pitt and Jolie, told People that the 2017 vintage of Château Miraval rosé is “very certainly our best vintage since we began in 2012”.

“With magnificent aromas of fragrant white blossom and fruit, the wine retains that touch of distinctive minerality drawn from the limestone soils, which is the hallmark of the greatest French terroirs,” Perrin told People.

“But what makes this 2017 vintage really stand out is its silky texture, which adds a special dimension to the wine,” he added.

The rosé, which goes on sale this week, is made from a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Rolle. It features the words: “bottled by Jolie, Pitt and Perrin” on its back label, as it has since it first launched in 2013.

A further source told People that “nothing has changed” at the château and that the estate is being kept in the family “as an investment for their children”.

Pitt and Jolie bought the 500-hectare Miraval in 2011 for a reported $60 million. The estate spans the Côteaux Varois-en-Provence and Côtes de Provence appellations. Its first 6,000 bottles of Miraval Rosé 2012 sold out in five hours.

Pitt, Jolie and Perrin produce three wines: a rosé and two whites, with a Provence red made from Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cabernet Franc in the pipeline.

Miraval’s latest addition is an organic extra virgin olive oil made from a blend of olives grown at the estate and organic olives grown on similar, high quality terroirs.

Pitt and Jolie met in 2005 on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith. Their six children took part in their wedding ceremony, which was held at Miraval in 2014.
