Diageo appoints ex-Heineken CMO as president of beer division

Diageo North America has appointed Nuno Teles, former chief marketing officer of Heineken USA, as the president of Diageo Beer Company, USA

Nuno has 14 years experience in the beer industry, having started his career at Scottish & Newcastle, the Edinburgh-based brewer that was acquired by Carsberg and Heineken in 2008. Teles joined Heineken in 2004, prior to the sale of Scottish & Newcastle, where he has held the position of chief marketing officer since 2014.

During that time he worked across various markets, including Portugal, the Netherlands, Brazil and the US.

In his role at Diageo, effective from 1 March, Teles will report to Deirdre Mahlan, president of Diageo North America.

“I am delighted Nuno is joining our business. He has strong strategic orientation, commerciality and thought leadership,” she said. “I know he will be a strong partner to me and the rest of the North America Executive in delivering our ambitions.”

Tom Day, chief sales officer at Diageo, will continue in his advisory role as chairman of the Diageo Beer Company, USA.
