Registrations open for 5StarWines

Registrations for 5StarWines — the blind tasting event organised by VeronaFiere and Vinitaly International — are now open.

The three-day event, which will take place 11-13 April in Verona, Italy, showcases a range of quality wines sourced from around the world in the lead-up to international wine competition Vinality.

Winemakers can get access to early-bird tickets until 15 February which knock 15% off the registration fee.

Some 80 judges at the blind tasting will select the best wines for the second edition of the wine guide 5StarWines.

The guide puts a spotlight on the continuous efforts made by wineries that invest in the improvement of their products. All the wines with 90 points out of 100 or above will be labelled 5StarWines on the results section for online search engine Wine-Searcher.

The 5StarWines label will also feature on the Vinitaly App during and after Vinitaly for all buyers and trade.

This year, 5StarWines will feature a section in its guide called Wine Without Walls; dedicated to low-intervention wines either made without sulphites, or containing less than 50mg of sulphites per litre.

Chaired by biodynamic wine expert Monty Waldin who has written extensively on organic and biodynamic wine, Wine Without Walls gives recognition to the growing importance and relevance of these wines.
