Jason Atherton is launching Moët & Chandon pairing menus at his London restaurants

Michelin-awarded chef and Moët & Chandon ambassador Jason Atherton is teaming up with the Champagne House’s Chef de Cave Benoît Gouez to create a range of fizz-paired menus at his London restaurants.

A trio of paired menus have been created for Atherton’s City Social, Pollen Street Social and Social Eating House, which are located in the Square Mile, Mayfair and Soho respectively.

Each menu reflects the culinary style of the Michelin-star restaurant, and each has been carefully paired to the same trio of Grand Vintages from Moët & Chandon.

Included in the pairing is the winery’s 2009 vintage, which Gouez describes as “an exceptional year.”

Gouez said that the Pinot Noir, which makes up between 40%-50% of the sparkling wine is “the very backbone of Grand Vintage 2009 – in fact the proportion of Pinot Noir has not been this high in a Moët & Chanson Grand Vintage since 1996, and the result is a complex and charismatic wine that opens up to us, and shows obvious maturity.”

Gouez has also selected two previous vintages for the collaboration: Grand Vintage Collection Rosé 2004 and Grand Vintage Collection Rosé 1990 – both of which have been brought from the Moët cellars in magnum.

Each menu is £145, with dishes including roast langoustine with poached rhubarb and pink peppercorn, which will be served at Social Eating House matched with Grand Vintage Rosé 2009, and Highland venison loin, red cabbage, cranberry, fig and a shoulder won ton, paired to Grand Vintage Collection Rosé 1990 at City Social.
