Pol Roger takes on Rosemary Cakebread’s Gallica

Strengthening its already robust California wine offering, Pol Roger Portfolio has taken on exclusive UK distribution of Rosemary Cakebread’s boutique St Helena label Gallica.

From next month, Gallica will join Abreu, Dalla Valle Vineyards, Robert Sinskey Vineyards and Staglin Family Vineyard in Pol Roger Portfolio’s California line up.

Founded in 2007 by Rosemary Cakebread, who is married to Bruce Cakebread of Cakebread Cellars, Gallica is a small, family run wine project focusing on wines made from Rhône varieties and Cabernet in unique vineyard sites.

Having worked as a winemaker for 30 years, Cakebread takes a stripped back approach to winemaking in order to create expressive yet balanced wines that offer a snapshot of the vintage.

Among the wines in the Gallic range are Cabernet from Oakville, Petite Sirah from St Helena, Albariño from Calaveras, Grenache from Sonoma and Syrah from the Santa Lucia Highlands.

“We are delighted to strengthen our range of exceptional Californian wines and representation of great family-owned wine producers with the addition of the brilliant wines from Gallica,” said James Simpson MW, managing director of Pol Roger Portfolio.

Rosemary Cakebread added: “We are thrilled about the new collaboration with Pol Roger Portfolio and to launch our wines in the UK – we have great expectations for our future together”.

Gallica is named after a type of French rose, while the wine labels are inspired by Japanese ink prints.
