The ranch, which has its own vineyards and winery as well as 157 acres of hiking trails and its own private lake, is known for being a dog-friendly hotspot.

This December, it is has designed a special trip for those travelling with their pets. The event begins on 13 December with a smoked-bacon scavenger hunt in the vineyards expected to put canine noses to the test.

On the following day, visitors can embark on walk along the many trails on the estate, accompanied by their four-legged friend(s), and can later relax in front of one of the lodges’ ‘indoor-outdoor fireplaces’.

The stay will culminate with the Holiday Howl at 3pm on 15 December, complete with bone broth mutt-tinis, festive music and party for both the family and pets.

The poochtastic extravaganza will take place from 13 to 16 December and more information with regards to costs can be found on the website.

Calistoga Ranch is among many wineries offering deals to tourists in an effort to attract visitors back to the region following the wildfires.

Last month it was revealed that the Napa Wine Train’s passenger numbers were 75% down what is normally achieved during a typical October. Businesses in the region have also complained that prospective tourists are labouring under the misconception that there is widespread destruction and poor air quality.

It has been reported that less than 10 wineries have been either heavily damaged or completely destroyed.
