Gosset launches 15-year aged NV cuvée
Gosset Champagne has released what it describes as a “masterpiece” cuvée, made by combining wines from several harvests and leaving it to rest for 15 years.
Launched in Paris last night, 15 Years is a non-vintage brut made from a blend of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir. Cellared in 1999, it carries a dosage of 7g/l.
“Prolonged ageing in the cellars, with no malolactic fermentation to pass the time, enables our cuvée, cellared for a minimum of 15 years, to retain its freshness and elegance while improving its vinosity, complexity and fullness”, said cellar master Jean-Pierre Mareigner. “The balance is ideal and the bubbles truly work in the wine’s favour.”
In the glass, 15 Years is described as a “deep golden with extremely fine bubbles”. On the nose, aromas of yellow fruit combine with “biscuit and sweet spices”, developing into a “complex, powerful and luxurious aromatic palate.”
Founded in 1584, Champagne Gosset is based in Aÿ and claims to be the oldest producer of wine in the region. Its Chardonnay-led house style is notable for avoiding malolactic fermentation to preserve freshness, although in recent years an element of MLF has been introduced to create a softer style.

Priced at around £95 a bottle, Gosset 15 Years is available through Louis Latour Agencies, which took on distribution of the Champagne producer in August last year.
I recently had Mumm’s 6 year NV and it was vastly superior to their normal NV.
I looked forward to trying this one though getting my hands on it in Australia will be difficult I imagine so might have to await my next trip to Champagne.
