IWSC reveals Communicator shortlist
The International Wine & Spirit Competition has announced an all-female shortlist for its Communicator of the Year 2014 award.
Jane Parkinson, Victoria Moore, Fiona Beckett and Helen McGinn are all being considered for the award, sponsored by Veronafiere, which recognises “an individual who demonstrates exceptional contribution to increasing awareness of wine and spirits”.
A regular in-house wine expert for BBC TV show Saturday Kitchen, Jane Parkinson also writes for Stylist magazine and is wine editor for Restaurant. Her first book, Wine & Food, is due for release later this year.
Victoria Moore is wine columnist for the Telegraph and Olive magazine, as well as cocktail columnist for Square Meal. She has published two books, How to Drink and How to Drink at Christmas, and is a judge for the Radio Four Food & Farming Awards.
Having written 23 books on food, wine or beer, Fiona Beckett is currently wine columnist for the Guardian, contributing editor for Decanter and writes for FOUR food magazine

Meanwhile Helen McGinn won the IWSC Best Blogger Award in 2012 and recently published a book, The Knackered Mother’s Wine Club, inspired by her blog. She also runs a wine marketing and consultancy business.
The winner will be announced on 5 April at the Vinitaly Gala Dinner, which will be held in Verona to launch the annual Italian trade fair. Last year’s winner was whisky specialist Dave Broom.
