It is believed around 700 firefighters have been battling blazes in northern and central Portugal this week, with the Porto district particularly badly hit.
Sadly, five volunteer firemen, including two young women, have lost their lives, according to a release from Symington Family Estates sent to the drinks business yesterday.
To support those battling the blazes, the Symingtons handed over a new ambulance to the voluntary fire brigade on Saturday, when many of the firefighters were still trying to put out the flames.

The vehicle is the sixth ambulance donated by Symington Family Estates in recent years as a contribution to emergency coverage for local communities.
