Puck picks London for European debut
US celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck is opening his first European restaurant in London as part of the Dorchester Collection luxury hotel brand.
The modern American steak restaurant, “Cut at 45 Park Lane”, is due to open near The Dorchester Hotel this summer.
The 45 Park Lane site will offer 45 “contemporary style” bedrooms and suites, as well as a penthouse, all promising views over Hyde Park. Cut at 45 Park Lane will occupy the ground floor, while on a mezzanine level will be Bar 45.
Having made his name in the US for combining formal French cooking with Californian and Asian influences, Puck’s menu will include prime cuts of dry and wet aged beef, pan roasted lobster and sautéed or roasted whole fish.
Praising London for having “some of the very finest restaurants in the world,” Puck explained: “I’ve been waiting for the right time and the right partner to bring Cut to the city’s residents and visitors.
“With its sharp design and incomparable service, Dorchester Collection’s 45 Park Lane will be the perfect address for Cut in London.”
Having moved to the US when he was 24, the Austrian-born chef built his reputation in Hollywood before extending his empire to Las Vegas and then across the US.
He is a regular face on US television, breaking outside cookery shows to appear on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Ellen De Generes Show and The Simpsons.
