Applications have opened for the 2026 Artémis Domaines Golden Vines Victims of Conflict Scholarships, an initiative aimed at helping wine professionals whose lives and careers have been affected by war and geopolitical conflict.

The programme will provide two recipients with six-month paid internships at estates belonging to Artémis Domaines. The placements are tailored to each scholar’s professional experience and career ambitions.

Possible internship placements span viticulture, production, hospitality, communications and marketing. Applicants are asked to set out their experience and professional skills as part of the selection process, according to the foundation.

Internships across renowned international estates

Artémis Domaines was created in 1993 and invests selectively in vineyards with the intention of long-term stewardship. The group currently owns nine estates located in Bordeaux, Burgundy, the Rhône Valley, Champagne, Napa Valley in California and Oregon.

These properties include Château Latour, Eisele Vineyard, Domaine d’Eugénie, Château Grillet, Clos de Tart, Champagne Jacquesson, Beaux Frères, Bouchard Père et Fils and Vignoble des Cabottes.

According to information provided by the organisation, all vineyards under Artémis Domaines management are certified organic and farmed according to agroecology principles.

Foundation and partner reaffirm collaboration

Romané Basset, co-founding trustee of the Gérard Basset Foundation, described the programme as an important form of practical support for wine professionals affected by conflict.

“Through the Artémis Domaines Golden Vines® Victims of Conflict Scholarships, we are both honoured and humbled to be able to award scholarships that will provide educational support and career progression to two wine professionals who have been affected by war and geopolitical conflict,” he said.

“We are very happy to continue our partnership with the Gérard Basset Foundation,” he said. “Helping passionate colleagues affected by conflicts to continue their learning in the world of wine through these two scholarships is only natural.”

Selection process and application deadline

The Artémis Domaines scholars will be chosen by a panel of judges led by Ian Harris MBE, chair of trustees at the Gérard Basset Foundation, alongside Jérémy Cukierman MW.

Applications for the 2026 scholarships are open now, with a submission deadline of 27 April 2026.

Continuing Gérard Basset’s legacy

The charity was established to use the wine, spirits and hospitality sectors as a means of widening access to education, training and mentorship.

The foundation was co-founded in 2021 by Nina Basset and Romané Basset. Trustees include Jancis Robinson OBE MW and Ian Harris.

The organisation honours the legacy of Gérard Basset OBE MS MW MBA OIV MSc ASI World’s Best Sommelier 2010, widely regarded as one of the most influential wine professionals of his generation.
