Kavalan Distillery names new UK distributor

Taiwanese whisky producer Kavalan Distillery has appointed Marussia Beverages UK as its new sole distributor in the United Kingdom, in a move the company says marks a new phase of growth in the market.

The partnership, which will come into effect next month, will see the Swedish-owned, family-run distributor oversee nationwide distribution across the on-trade, off-trade, specialist retail, e-commerce and grocery sectors.

Kavalan – which was founded in 2005 and is backed by the King Car Group – said the appointment would allow it to expand its reach across the UK while strengthening long-term brand development.

Trevenon Weeks, managing director of Marussia Beverages UK, said the distributor was “thrilled” to represent the brand in Britain, describing Kavalan as a distillery that had “decisively claimed the world stage”.

New horizons

“Our entire strategy is built to match their ambition, reintroducing these exceptional single malts with the focus and premium stature they deserve,” Weeks added. “The UK’s discerning drinkers are in for a revelation.”

The distillery, based in Yilan County, Taiwan, has built an international reputation for its single malts, produced in a subtropical climate using water sourced from Snow Mountain.

The new partnership will come with a renewed focus on Kavalan’s 15 Years Old Single Malt Whisky, the distillery’s first age statement expression. First released in 2025, the whisky will now serve as the flagship product under Marussia’s stewardship.

Looking forward

The 15-year-old expression will launch in the UK on 9 March 2026, bottled at 43% ABV in 70cl format, with a recommended retail price of £149.

King Car chairman YT Lee said the partnership was intended to establish Kavalan as a leading luxury single malt from an emerging world whisky region, with the 15-year-old expression at the forefront of its UK strategy.

Marussia said it would support the brand through trade-focused communications, media engagement and appearances at industry events including Whisky Live and The Whisky Show during 2026. The companies are also exploring plans for immersive distillery visits for UK partners from 2027.
