The year kicked off to an exciting start for the drinks trade across Asia, with non-alcoholic pairing dinners, business trips and retail activations taking place across the continent.

Non hosts two pairing events in Hong Kong

On 29 January, guests at the Steakhouse Grand Hyatt, Hong Kong, were treated to a fully non-alcoholic lunch pairing, courtesy of Non – a company creating alcohol-free wine alternatives specifically designed for food pairing. That same evening, Non also ran a pairing dinner at Grissini. The lunch featured Hamachi Tartare, House Smoked Thick Cut Bacon and Berries Trifle. Meanwhile,, the dinner menu included Carne Salada Parmigiano Mandarino paired with Non 1. Salted Raspberry and Chamomile and NON 2. Caramelised Pear & Kombu, as well as Lombata di Wagyu coupled with Non 7. Stewed Cherry and Coffee, and Non 9. Oaked Blackberry and Plum. The events were hosted by Manuel Arce, Nimbility spirits and beverage director.

The Nimbility team (Polly Aylwin-Foster, Elizabeth Cheung, Mayidili Sulitang and Benjamin Fok), along with the Black Type team, visited 50 stores across the city on 29 January to help the DFI Retail team instal 50 display units to start a city-wide launch of Poco Vino. Hardly one day after the set up, more than 200 units had already been sold.

Nimbility’s sales director of North Asia, Mayidili Sulitang, paid a visit to the UAE in early January to represent Argentinian winery Bodega Alta Vista in support of importer Uniglobe Holding UAE. What followed was sales team training, and on-trade engagements across Taparella Restaurant, Park Hyatt, Abu Dhabi Polo Club and a wine tasting at McGettigan’s Ajman, building visibility, relationships and momentum for Alta Vista in the market.
