One of the world’s best-known rosés is celebrating a milestone year with a new edition. The 2025 vintage arrives first in UK retail before moving into on-trade venues worldwide.

Renowned as the world’s number one-selling rosé, Whispering Angel celebrates its 20th vintage with the release of its 2025 edition. It is the latest release from a brand that has spent two decades altering perceptions of a drink that was once considered just a casual summer drink.

Whispering Angel, from its origins at Chateau d’Esclans, has helped ignite what has been widely described as a global Rosé Renaissance, reframing pale pink wine as an emblem of French joie de vivre and international aspiration.

Two decades on, the brand continues to post sustained sales growth and remains a reference point for premium rosé.

Reflections on the 2025 vintage

“I am pleased to say that this is among the best vintages of Whispering Angel we’ve made. Both delicious and aromatic,” says founder, Sacha Lichine.

Winemaker Bertrand Léon adds, “The 20th anniversary vintage is expressive and precise, revealed through a balance of ripeness and freshness, with delicate notes of citrus and red fruits that add clarity and depth. On the palate, the wine opens smoothly with a silky, well-defined texture. Its ever-present freshness adds structure and dimension, leading to an energetic, lively finish.”

UK launch and global rollout

The Whispering Angel 20th vintage will appear on retail shelves exclusively at Waitrose and Selfridges in the second half of January, as per the brand. From late March, it will be poured at selected high-end venues across the world.

To mark the anniversary, the new label has been redesigned. It features Sacha Lichine’s signature alongside the familiar angel imagery from Chateau d’Esclans.

The release also opens a year of celebrations, beginning with a special edition artwork composed of 20 visual stories. Each vignette represents a chapter in the Whispering Angel journey.
