Southern French rosé gets a 0% makeover in Beau Viva

BEAU VIVA offers an alcohol-free taste of the South of France, bringing celebration without compromise for any season.

In the world of wine, trends matter. You may not need to know every TikTok dance, but being on-trend is essential when it comes to the medium- and long-term trajectories in the industry.

Undeniably, one of the key trends of the 21st century has been the rise of no- and low-alcohol options, and BEAU VIVA has made sure it is up to date. Indeed, the non-alcoholic sparkling wine brand is at the forefront of the category.

Central to that is its positioning. With so much marketing of no- and low-alcohol beverages focusing on health issues, Dry January and Sober October, the category can feel abstemious, even joyless. BEAU VIVA is instead pushing it forward by emphasising that alcohol-free options are a question of celebrating without compromise. Drinkers should be afforded choice, with equally compelling alcoholic and non-alcoholic options.

Looking at the company’s history provides some clues to the thought process. BEAU VIVA is an offshoot of Provence rosé producer Maison Saint Aix, and so there is no ‘war on alcohol’ being waged. The two brands are complementary, rather than antagonistic. BEAU VIVA, however, has its own separate identity, barely tied to its origins; this is a bottling which can stand on its own merits, rather than be bound forever to an established producer.

Certainly, that is evident in its brand activations. Although launched less than a year ago, it has made an emphatic case that celebrations and luxury are achievable without alcohol. A reception at a five-star hotel in Amsterdam, curated pairings by Michelin-starred chefs, bespoke cocktails from top bartenders: it has not shied away from bringing alcohol-free sparkle to prestigious occasions.

BEAU VIVA has also partnered with the fashion industry in Luxembourg and created a festive playlist with music curation company Playlister, embedding the brand as a lifestyle product.

Yet for all the glamour, winemaking has not been neglected, as a panel of judges found at The Global Low and No Alcohol Wine Masters 2025. On blind-tasting the wine, they awarded it a Gold medal, ranking it as one of the top alcohol-free wines of the competition. Judge Patricia Stefanowicz MW provides her tasting note below.

Maison Saint Aix Beau Viva Rosé NV

  • Producer: Maison Saint Aix
  • Region: Provence, Country: France
  • Grape varieties: Colombard with a touch of Merlot
  • ABV: 0.0%
  • Residual sugar: 4.2g/100ml
  • Approx. retail price: £28

Maison Saint Aix is located in the heart of Aix-en-Provence, almost in the shadow of Mont Ste Victoire. Renowned for making AIX Rosé, this expression maintains the esprit of Maison Saint Aix in a non-alcoholic version. Very, very pale rose-peach with noticeable sparkle, the wine shows delicate white cherry and white peach fruit, with lemon and orange blossom notes, and a hint of fresh bread autolysis. Medium in sweetness, the light-bodied palate has brisk acidity and mouth-filling mousse in balance. Nicely defined and quite long. A very attractive wine that is a good foil for Japanese sushi and sashimi.
