Pub built in a van makes Cornish beer go viral

A beer collaboration between St Ives Brewery in Cornwall and outdoor adventure YouTube channel All the Gear has received more than a million views for serving out of a pub located in the back of a van.

A beer collaboration between St Ives Brewery in Cornwall and outdoor adventure YouTube channel All the Gear has received more than a million views for serving out of a pub located in the back of a van.

The van pub was created by YouTubers Jack Joy and Ethan Smale who had set out a plan to build a micro pub inside their Suzuki Carry van, before going on to launch a beer in partnership with a local brewery.

Conversion and experience

According to local reports covering the collaboration, Joy and Smale’s mini series on YouTube followed not only the van conversion, but also the duo’s experiences brewing beer and selecting a style.

The chosen beer was a 4.6% ABV pale ale which was launched with St Ives Brewery and aptly named: All the Beer, echoing the name of the YouTube channel.

All the Beer is distributed exclusively by beer club Beer52, which has already started sending it across the globe, boosting presence for Cornish beer.

Partner Content

As part of the collaboration, Joy and Smale attended the brewery for a tasting session in a bid to determine the ideal style before agreeing on a pale ale.

‘Likeminded people’

Speaking about the collab, St Ives Brewery founder Marco Amura said: “We love sharing our passion for the art of brewing with likeminded people, so partnerships like this are amazing for us. Teaming up with All The Gear and Beer 52 was an opportunity too good not to take up, and being able to brew a one off limited edition beer was a real honour.”

Smale explained: “This has been the most exciting project to work on and it’s been amazing working with everyone at Beer52 and St Ives Brewery. Having your own beer is something you never think will actually happen and it was quite surreal holding the can for the first time. We hope everyone enjoys it as much as we do.”

All three episodes of the series on the van pub and beer launch can be seen on All the Gear’s YouTube channel.

Beer fans can also try All the Beer and nine other beers in a pack via Beer52.
