Devon’s Powderkeg Brewery has boosted its capacity in a bid to expand its contract brewing offer to beer brand owners who don’t own a production site.

The newly enhanced services from the independent brewer have been set up in the hope to attract start-up and established brewers. The beer sector has struggled over the past few years, with brewery closures being reported amidst rising costs. But the contract brewing model has already been uncovered as one route towards saving beer businesses from being completely eradicated.

Boosted capacity

The newly-christened Zymoko Brewing is SALSA-Plus beer-accredited and now offers a total of 40,000 litre fermentation capacity alongside in-house canning and kegging.

Powderkeg has been contract brewing ever since it first opened its doors in 2014, producing beers for numerous brands alongside its own range. However, last year the business saw demand outstrip supply and recognised an opportunity for it to thrive further.

With fresh capacity now available, the brewery has noted that it is currently open to new enquiries and has urged brewers that “you’re new to the industry, or established and looking to increase production, if you need help developing a new product or are seeking consistent, quality supply of an existing beer, Zymoko has the expertise you’re after”.

More details can be found via the Powderkeg website, but a new page for the contract brewing business can soon be found at the new Zymoko website which is set to go live in a few weeks time.
