Turkish lager Efes rolls out into Comptoir Libanais restaurants

Suffolk-based Sunrise Beverages has launched Turkish lager brand Efes into the Middle Eastern and North African restaurant group Comptoir Libanais.

London-based brewing group Sunrise Beverages has launched Turkish lager brand Efes into the Middle Eastern & North African restaurant group Comptoir Libanais.

The 5% ABV Mediterranean lager will now be available across all Comptoir Libanais sites within the UK with the exclusion of its franchised venues.

Sunrise Beverages, will be supplying draught Efes to all 17 of the UK’s Comptoir restaurants which are located across London and other cities nationwide, including Manchester, Bath, Birmingham, Oxford, and Exeter.

Flavour attracts flavour

Comptoir has noted that it brings the spirit of a Middle Eastern souk to life, serving up dishes with all the flavours of Lebanon and the Middle East.

Speaking to the drinks business about the beer being positioned in Comptoir Libanais venues, Sunrise Beverages chief commercial officer Cigdem Kurtulus told db: “Working with Comptoir is a perfect brand fit for Efes which has a Mediterranean history that dates back to 1969. This pairing will give consumers a refreshing beverage option to enjoy alongside the tasty Middle Eastern dishes available.”

Perfect match

Comptoir Libanais managing director Conrad Patterson explained: “We’re thrilled to extend our partnership with Efes. Its beer is the perfect match for Comptoir’s fresh, vibrant flavours and is a natural fit that celebrates the best of Mediterranean hospitality.”

Comptoir Libanais was initially founded by Tony Kitous,and aims to “bring people together over colourful dishes, warm hospitality”. From mezze and grills to homemade baklava, the group emphasised how it “serves up sunshine every day — whether you’re dining in, grabbing to go, or ordering for delivery”.

Sunrise Beverages, also known for brands in its portfolio including: Orion, St Peter’s Brewery, Gipsy Hill, Curious and Portobello. Recently, the group told db that it was doing what it could to retain each brewery’s identity following acquisition.
