Noughty launches elevated non-alcoholic red Monté
Premium non-alcoholic wine brand Noughty has unveiled Monté, a Syrah-based red from South Africa crafted to deliver structure, depth and elegance without the alcohol.

Noughty, the premium non-alcoholic wine brand founded by British entrepreneur Amanda Thomson of Thomson & Scott — and recently named db’s Entrepreneur of the Year 2025 — has launched Noughty Monté, an elevated new alcohol-free red wine. The wine is priced at £18.95 / US$39.
“Monté represents a major evolution for us and for the category,” says Thomson. “Consumers told us they wanted a red wine that truly stands shoulder-to-shoulder with traditional fine wines — rich, structured, elegant and deeply satisfying. Monté is that wine.”
South African Syrah, crafted with precision
Monté is made from 100% Syrah grapes grown in dryland farmed vineyards in Darling, South Africa, where warm sunshine meets the cooling Atlantic breeze. The vines grow in deep soils of decomposed granite and rich clay, which aid drainage and concentration.
The wine is first produced conventionally before being dealcoholised to 0.5% ABV using spinning cone technology under vacuum at low temperature, preserving body, colour and flavour. French oak is used during malolactic fermentation and ageing to bring structure and depth. Although not from a single vineyard, grapes are sourced from only a few sites to ensure focus and intensity.
Bright fruit and refined structure
Monté shows bright blackberry aromas with a hint of spice, followed by crisp, fruity flavours, refined tannins and a dry finish.

Master of Wine Richard Bampfield described it as “crisp and fruity, with more texture than expected… pleasingly satisfying and moreish.”
The wine is positioned as an alternative to elegant alcoholic reds, pairing well with modern cuisine and premium dining occasions.
Global growth for Noughty
For Thomson & Scott, Monté marks a key milestone in Noughty’s international expansion and leadership in the premium non-alcoholic category.
Already poured at Michelin-starred restaurants, The Mandarin Oriental, Raffles OWO London, and MOMA New York, Noughty continues to grow rapidly across global markets, with the US its largest and fastest-expanding territory.
Monté joins a portfolio that includes Noughty Sparkling Chardonnay, Sparkling Rosé, Still Rosé, Rouge, and Blanc, all made to deliver full flavour without alcohol.
