Equal Measures expands into wine sector with WSET partnership
Equal Measures, a UK non-profit organisation that champions inclusion in the drinks industry, has announced its expansion into the wine sector, teaming up with Queena Wong and WSET.

Equal Measures, founded in 2020, was created to support people from marginalised backgrounds working in hospitality. Its mission is to increase opportunities for those from Black, Asian and other minority ethnic backgrounds, as well as for LGBTQ+ people, neurodivergent individuals, and others who face systemic barriers to progress.
Since its launch, the organisation has provided fully funded places on a range of professional courses, including WSET Level 1, 2 and 3 qualifications in Spirits, and BIIAB Level 2 Personal Licences. Community events and mentorship schemes are also among the services it offers, aiming to boost diversity in the drinks industry.
Now, Equal Measures has announced it will offer places on the WSET Level 1, 2 and 3 Awards in Wine. The group will work in partnership with Queena Wong, founder of the Curious Vines project.
Advocating for inclusion
Vicky Ilankovan, executive director of Equal Measures UK, said: “Over the last four years, Equal Measures has solidified its reputation as a strong advocate for education, safeguarding and inclusion in the spirits and cocktail scenes within the industry.
“Now, as we are entering our fifth year, we believe it is the right time to expand into wine. We are doing so gradually, backed by knowledge, experience, and an award-winning approach made stronger by deep connections within the sector.”
Applications are already open for 2026 beneficiaries from within the wine industry. The non-profit organisation is also broadening its mentor pool to include wine experts across the globe.
