Petersham Nurseries to open Florentine trattoria in Notting Hill
Next month, Lara Boglione of Petersham Nurseries and her winemaker husband Giovanni Mazzei are set to launch an Italian restaurant, Trogolo, in Notting Hill, following the closure of the operator’s two central London sites earlier this year.

Petersham Nurseries, the team behind the iconic Richmond Teahouse and East Sussex restaurant, Bayte, was forced to close its Covent Garden sites La Goccia and The Petersham in February, after six years of trading, with the owners citing “significant cost challenges”, spurred by Covid and Brexit.
But now, the team will open another central London site: Trogolo, which takes its name from the Italian word for ‘trough’, is an Florence-inspired trattoria and bar that will serve a menu that changes with the seasons.

Dishes will include handmade tagliolini with white truffles, butter-roasted chicken; and arista con l’osso – a Tuscan bone-in pork loin with peperconcino, and apple cakes or cantucci biscuits with vin santo to round off the meal.
The wine list will have a strong Tuscan focus, and will showcase around 350 bottles. The duo hope to make the cellar “the definitive reference point for Italian and, specifically, Tuscan wines in London,” Hot Dinners reported.
The eatery will span two floors, with the dining room featuring stripped-back decor and sharing tables for communal dining, and marble-topped tables for two. There will also be a bar, serving up crostini and cocktails, and an outdoor courtyard.
