Pernod Ricard has expanded the reach of its on-trade hospitality programme and competition to 14 markets, adding five new countries to its remit. db reports.

Alongside the roll out, the drinks giant will also be introducing a global “Wild Card” opportunity to attract talent from outside of the markets it is working within, encouraging as many people as possible from across the sector to take part.

An opportunity to upskill

The initiative, which is part of the SIP (Share. Inspire. Pioneer.) Supernova programme, sets out to support the next generation of hospitality talent with less than six years’ experience. The programme, which is mentorship-driven, assists in educating and empowering people still relatively new to the sector and gives them opportunities to upskill and grow their careers within a supportive network.

The drinks company outlined that SIP Supernova is open not only to bartenders but all hospitality professionals and has been designed to recognise the full spectrum of hospitality skills.

Mentorship

This year also sees the launch of a new mentorship initiative hosted by industry experts in a bid to support participants on their journey. Names taking part include: Juliette Larrouy (co-founder of Schmuck in New York); Keith Motsi (head bartender and beverage operations at Virtu, Four Seasons in Tokyo); Jean Trinh (founder of Alquímico in Cartegena) and Danil Nevsky (aka @cocktailman, currently named as the fifth most influential bartender by Bar World 100).

Speaking to the drinks business, Pernod Ricard’s head of global on-trade development, Roland Krupinski, said: “SIP Supernova is more than a stage – it’s a spark. A celebration of creativity, leadership, and heart, where emerging hospitality stars rise with the guidance of global mentors and the power of community.”

Partner Content

Throughout the competition each participant will have the opportunity to express their creativity by leveraging a portfolio of seven Pernod Ricard brands: Código 1530, KI NO BI, Altos, Havana Club, Absolut, Jameson and Monkey 47; as well as exploring the idea of “sensory architecture” or rather the idea of “focusing on what truly makes a great drink and a memorable experience”.

Krupinski told db: “As Pernod Ricard, through a variety of programmes within SIP and its dedicated programmes for bar professionals, we honour our promise: to invest in talent, to uplift ambition, and to pioneer a future where brilliance shines ever brighter.”

Global finals

Pernod Ricard will also be hosting local heats in each market, with each winner being rewarded with the opportunity to compete at the global final taking place in Tokyo, Japan in early May 2026.

Three global winners will then be selected to embark on a “SIP Internship” which will include an education programme hosted by a World 50 Best Bars awarded team, as well as a visit to Pernod Ricard’s Código 1530 Tequila distillery in Jalisco, Mexico.

Krupinski added a message of support for all applicants embarking on the programme and competition: “From your first pour to Tokyo’s global spotlight – your journey begins here.”
