Noughty launches small format Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Chardonnay

Six years after its original launch, Noughty has put its flagship fizz into a 200ml bottle. db profiles the “game changer” release while Patrick Schmitt MW tastes the wine.

Leading premium non-alcoholic wine brand Noughty has expanded its range with a small format offering of its Noughty Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Chardonnay. The 0.0% ABV wine, produced in Germany with Spanish grapes, is now available in 200 millilitre bottles.

The alcohol-free fizz, created by Amanda Thomson of Thomson & Scott, has long drawn attention and headlines. Since its launch in 2019, it has found fans like Tamlyn Curran (writing for jancisrobinson.com) and achieved listings with such prestigious establishments as Raffles OWO London, New York’s Museum of Modern Art and the Mandarin Oriental Group.

Now, the new format is allowing further expansion, particularly hitting consumers looking for more casual or spontaneous options.

“We’ve been endlessly pushed to produce a 200ml version of our OG Noughty Sparkling Wine for some time now and already, before we’ve officially got bottles on the shelves, we’ve taken orders in the UK and US,” says Thomson. “We’ve spent the last six years looking to penetrate the wider wine market with a quality non-alcoholic wine worthy of the lists we now feature on.

“Having a pocket-sized option is a game changer for us and our consumers who have been looking to enjoy Noughty anywhere and everywhere without being lumbered with a full 750ml bottle size. We’ve now gone 100% portable!”

The new format comes in an already exciting period for the brand. The Noughty range received a branding update earlier in the year, with the new look described as “stunning and tactile” by the team. That rolled out to both the sparkling wines and Noughty’s selection of <0.5% ABV dealcoholised still wines, which are grown, harvested and produced in Darling, South Africa.

Thomson, meanwhile, was named Entrepreneur of the Year at The Drinks Business Awards 2025. The judges praised, in particular, her work to bring Noughty to more than 40 countries: it now sells in Singapore, Mexico City and across the US (its largest market).

To mark the release of Noughty Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Chardonnay 200ml, Patrick Schmitt MW blind-tasted the new product. He provides his tasting note below.

Noughty Sparkling Chardonnay (200ml)

  • Origin: Wine is from La Mancha, Spain, and dealcoholized in the Rheingau
  • Vintage: NV
  • ABV: 0.0%
  • RRP: £27 (case of 6 x 200ml bottles)
  • Residual Sugar: 3.9g per 100ml
  • Grape Variety: 100% organically-grown Chardonnay grapes

While neither richly autolytic like Champagne, nor overtly aromatic like Prosecco, this 0% sparkling has the characteristics of a young crémant, with firm bubbles, crisp apple fruit, and a mouth-watering finish. There are also notes of white flowers, along with a hint of sweet peach and fresh grapes, and some fine chalky phenolics to bring a dry finish to a subtly sweet mid-palate. Overall a convincing alternative to a full-strength youthful fizz. I’m impressed.
