The wine retailer has begun a major recruitment drive ahead of the festive season, seeking 150 new team members across its nationwide network of shops. The move comes as Majestic prepares to serve more customers than ever before during its busiest trading period.

Majestic, the UK’s largest specialist wine retailer, has launched a recruitment drive to hire 150 new colleagues. The roles span permanent and temporary positions across its 216 stores.

The new hires will include delivery drivers, sales assistants, assistant managers and trainee managers. Many roles are designed to offer flexible hours, with trainee managers benefiting from a development programme aimed at preparing them to run their own store within a year. Among the available positions are roles at Majestic’s new Truro store, its fifth opening of 2025, which will open next week.

Expanding teams to meet festive demand

To support operations during the crucial golden quarter, Majestic will also call on its ‘Majestic Reserves’ – a group of more than 160 former colleagues who return to help in stores during busy periods. The initiative enables experienced staff to step in on a flexible basis, ensuring smooth service for customers even during peak demand.

Majestic managing director Elizabeth Newman said: “We live for Christmas at Majestic – it’s our busiest time of year, but also our most exciting and most enjoyable. Our stores are always absolutely buzzing and our proposition really comes into its own, helping our customers discover new wines to taste with their friends and families over the festive period.

“If you love wine and want to join a passionate and fast-paced team, we could have the perfect role for you at Majestic. Our new colleagues will not only help us to deliver another Majestic Christmas for our retail and on-trade customers, but will set us up to drive further growth next year and beyond.”

Building on record success

The recruitment campaign follows a record-breaking Christmas in 2024, when Majestic achieved the largest festive trading period in its 45-year history. During the six weeks to 30 December 2024, sales grew 1.9%, with record numbers of customers visiting its stores.

All Majestic store colleagues are trained to at least Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 2, making the retailer one of Europe’s leading wine educators. Staff can earn uncapped bonuses linked to store performance and win incentive trips to global wine regions. In 2025, around 200 colleagues will have visited destinations including France, the USA and New Zealand.

Growth across retail and on-trade

Meanwhile, Majestic Commercial, the retailer’s on-trade supply arm, continues to perform strongly, recording four consecutive years of double-digit growth. It now supplies more than 3,500 hospitality and events venues, from gastropubs and hotels to restaurants and bars, supported by local service from its store network.
