Fuller’s celebrates 180th anniversary with limited-edition porter and new gift packs

The Fuller’s Griffin Brewery is marking 180 years of brewing heritage by releasing an anniversary porter, new gift boxes and by providing special behind-the-scenes brewery tours.

The London-based brewery, which was acquired by Asahi in 2019, has continued to invest in its legacy over the past few years, “blending modern advancement with a deep respect for its heritage”.

The company reminded that, in 1845, John ‘Bird’ Fuller partnered with Henry Smith and John Turner to establish Fuller, Smith & Turner at the Griffin Brewery in Chiswick, West London. Over the next 180 years, the business has since built a reputation for crafting iconic beers, such as London Pride and ESB.

Special releases

Fuller’s new 180th Anniversary Porter is 7% ABV and has been brewed with a blend of pale, extra dark crystal, brown and chocolate malts and Fuggles hops.

The porter, which has a “chocolate richness” complemented by “raisin and burnt sugar nuances” and a “warming depth” will be available to buy from the Griffin Brewery Shop for £7.50 per 500ml bottle which will be packaged in a luxury gift box.

Fuller’s has also unveiled a gift pack for its 10.7% ABV Imperial Stout which offers up “bitter chocolate, cocoa powder, creamy malt, burnt fruit and notes of Turkish Delight and marshmallow”.

Also being released is Fuller’s Vintage Ale for 2025 which has an ABV of 8.4% and this year “blends modern Most hops” with older UK varieties including “Pioneer and Phoenix”. The resulting vintage has hints of “red fruit and citrus notes in combination with lemon and molasses” as well as “raisin and fruitcake notes” along with “caramel sweetness”.

Behind the scenes tours

To further celebrate the anniversary, the business will offer special Fuller’s Griffin Brewery tours where visitors can explore parts of the site not usually open to the public. As part of the tours, visitors will also be able to view a recently certified World Origin Site plaque, marking the site of the establishment of Fuller’s Brewery by Fuller, Smith & Turner in 1845.

Giving back to customers

Fuller’s Griffin Brewery will be partnering with Fuller, Smith & Turner pubs and hotels to give back to valued customers. This means that when a customer buys a drink in a Fuller, Smith & Turner managed pub from 10-12 November between 6:45pm until 8.25 pm (the times marking the years since Fuller’s was established) they will enjoy half of the drink on the house.

Fuller’s Griffin Brewery head brewer Guy Stewart said: “Fuller’s Griffin Brewery has been at the heart of the community for 180 years, producing landmark brews that focus on quality and provenance. Our commitment to craftsmanship has meant Fuller’s beers have truly stood the test of time and we are proud to be celebrating this milestone with our 180th Anniversary Porter.”

Gift packs for Fuller’s 180th Anniversary Porter, Imperial Stout, and Vintage Ale 2025 are available from the Fuller’s Griffin Brewery Shop now.
