Chivas Regal’s first-ever clear spirit hits market
Chivas Regal has unveiled Crystalgold, its first-ever clear spirit drink, created through a bespoke filtration process that strips colour from oak-aged whisky while retaining flavour.

The release marks what Chivas Brothers describes as a “technical breakthrough” years in the making. Crystalgold is produced by passing a bespoke blend through a filtration method involving controlled temperature conditions and precisely measured flow rates. The process removes colour while preserving depth of flavour and delivering an ultra-smooth, crystal-clear liquid.
The result is a spirit drink that combines the complexity of Chivas Regal’s traditional house style with the versatility of a clear spirit. Its transparent profile is intended to suit lighter serves and “early evening occasions”, an area traditionally dominated by white spirits such as tequila.
Sandy Hyslop, Chivas Regal’s master blender, said: “With Chivas Regal Crystalgold, we set out to achieve something we had never done before – to create a clear spirit that nodded to the elevated signature taste and quality the brand is known for, and preserve all those complex flavours. It was a challenge that pushed us creatively, and the result is a spirit drink that feels both unexpected, yet unmistakably true to the brand in character, despite looking so different to the existing Chivas Regal range that inspired it.”

Expanding whisky’s role in cocktail culture
For bartenders, Crystalgold provides a new base for modern serves, offering the layered flavour of an oak-aged spirit with the mixability of a clear one. Chivas Regal will launch the product with a global campaign fronted by its brand ambassador, Scuderia Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc. Together, they have created the Chivas Regal Crystalgold Spritz, a cocktail featuring elderflower, lime, Champagne and a mint garnish.
Nick Blacknell, global marketing director for Chivas Regal, said: “Chivas Regal Crystalgold exemplifies the bold thinking that continues to drive this brand forward. It’s an exciting step into new territory, as we respond to changes in the way consumers are enjoying spirits today, while staying grounded in the craft, quality and flavour cues that define Chivas Regal. This is a true first for us, and an example of how a heritage brand can continue to innovate in the industry.”
