Founded in 1895 in Chigny-les-Roses, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, Champagne Gardet is celebrating 130 years in 2025. To mark this milestone, the house is unveiling the 130 Anniversary Cuvée – Millésime 2015 Extra-Brut.

Speaking to the drinks business, Champagne Gardet owner Christophe Prieux said: “Crafted exclusively from carefully selected grapes of the outstanding 2015 harvest, this vintage pays tribute to Gardet’s century-old savoir-faire while expressing the purest elegance of Champagne. Its Extra-Brut dosage highlights the precision and freshness of the wine, which is 30% Chardonnay, enhancing its vibrant fruit character and 70% Pinot Noir” showcasing what Prieux has described as its “remarkable balance”.

Treasures from the past

Champagne Gardet is revealing all its treasures from the past. In order to unveil this extraordinary heritage, the house had to completely rethink its existing wine library and instead create a space totally dedicated to preserving Gardet’s most treasured secrets, but one that would also welcome visitors to discover its prestigious wines.

Adventure seekers are invited to discover its mysteries by exploring the estate’s vaulted cellars, more than 15 metres deep. A space that has been described as a maze that ends in the cellar dedicated to preserving Gardet’s oldest Champagnes and named: the Secret Cellar.

Work began to adapt the cellar in April 2023 and was completed in December 2023 with the most impressive part of the project being the creation of a made-to-measure iron door, forged by a Champfleury wrought-iron craftsman. Considerable work was also required to produce this as the emblem of the cellar, since the sealed door is the symbol of secrecy.

Highlighting what makes Champagne Gardet stand out, Prieux explained: “With a deep respect for tradition and a commitment to innovation, Champagne Gardet continues to embody the vision of its founder, Charles Gardet: to create Champagnes of consistency and both freshness and maturity, reflecting the richness of their terroir.”

Cellar and Secret Collection

As Champagne Gardet looks toward the future, Prieux admitted that “this special release symbolises both a celebration of the past and a promise of excellence for the over 130 years to come”.

An immersive discovery tour of the Secret Collection is available to customers by appointment only. This immersion includes a tour of the estate, from its cellars to its production tools, and a tasting in the Caveau Secret.
