#WeekinPictures: London rockers, fine Malbec and a birthday bash
Despite tube strikes hitting the capital’s transport network, the London wine trade got together for fine wine releases and a 40th anniversary, while one of its leading breweries hosted Britpop legends.
Signature Brew hosts Suede

The vogue for Britpop showed no signs of abating on Thursday, as Signature Brew in London hosted local rockers Suede.
The packed gig celebrated the launch of their latest studio album, Antidepressants, which was released last week on BMG. According to Monday’s midweek chart update, the record was tracking to secure Suede their first number one album since 1999.
Signature Brew organised the gig and signing as part of its ongoing programme of live music. The brewery partners extensively with local artists, but has also worked with big names, including The Libertines, The Darkness and Enter Shikari.
Achaval Ferrer showcases Fincas selection

Mendoza producer Achaval Ferrer offered the UK trade a chance to taste its single-site Fincas selection, ahead of new vintages arriving in the UK next week. Each plot amounts to less than 10 hectares of vines used, making some of the region’s most terroir-driven single-varietal Melbecs.
The tasting, at London restaurant Quo Vadis, featured the 2021 editions of the four wines, with guests guided by winemaking director Gustavo Rearte. Finca Nazarenas was a particular draw: the wine was only released in spring of this year, offering a taste of the newest venture from the esteemed producer.

The other wines – Finca Altamira, Finca Bella Vista and Finca Mirador – were each paired with a back vintage from the last 15 years, showing the ageing potential of Argentinian Malbec.
Jeroboams marks 40th anniversary

Jeroboams, the London-based, family-owned fine wine and spirits merchant, marked its 40th birthday with a milestone tasting at Banking Hall in the City of London. More than 400 guests attended the event, which included a walk-around tasting, masterclasses and a jamon ibérico station.
To show the company’s impressive story, the wines were arranged in the order in which they joined the company. This, along with the presence of key players from across its history, gave visitors a real sense of the company’s history.
Reflecting on the day’s celebrations, founder Peter Rich comments: “Jeroboams has always been about more than wine. It’s about moments shared, friendships formed, and helping people discover something special to bring home. Forty years on, that passion remains the same.”
