Vinexposium ‘cannot afford to deliver a trade show that falls short’
Vinexposium CEO Rodolphe Lameyse has told db that a technical issue led to the cancellation of Vinexpo India, originally set to take place this week.

As reported by db yesterday, trade show organiser Vinexposium has announced the cancellation of Vinexpo India 2025. The exhibition was scheduled to take place in Mumbai on 3-4 October.
CEO Rodolphe Lameyse has now revealed to the drinks business that a “technical issue” in India “led me to conclude that the 2025 edition would not have met Vinexposium’s standards”.
He said: “When you run Vinexposium, you cannot afford to deliver a trade show that falls short of our clients’ expectations, whether in terms of execution, organisation, or visitor quality.”
The technical issue led Lameyse to decide to “take a step back from this edition and return in 2026 with the best possible logistics and execution”.
However, the Vinexposium CEO stressed his confidence in the Indian market. “I have always considered India to be a market with a bright future – and I continue to believe this,” he said.

Beverage alcohol sales in India’s domestic market increased 6% in volume in 2024, according to IWSR. The country’s travel retail sector is showing particular promise, even outpacing growth in the domestic market with volume sales in the channel up 13% last year.
Lameyse noted India is still an “emerging market” in which “it requires adapting to the reality on the ground and remaining flexible, even in the face of setbacks”.
Vinexposium has said it will take all the necessary measures with regard to its clients committed to this edition.
It will now focus its energy on upcoming flagship exhibitions including Wine Paris, Vinexpo Asia, Vinexpo Americas and the World Bulk Wine Exhibition. The company said it is also focusing on “promising new initiatives in preparation”.
Vinexposium co-organised Vinexpo India with local partner InterAds Exhibitors. This year’s edition was due to include the India Wines and Spirits Award (IWSA), presented by the Sonal Holland Academy.
