German waiter proves the perils of trying to carry 31 beers

A waiter in Bavaria attempted to break the world record for the highest number of beers carried at once. The contestant who had previously held a world record for the feat was hoping to win back his crown and made quite the spectacle of himself.

A waiter in Bavaria attempted to break the world record for the highest number of beers carried at once.

The Oktoberfest waiter, named Oliver Struempfel, attended a fair in the Southern German town of Abensberg. At the event he attempted to carry 31 steins of beer with both his hands. He aimed to walk the full 40 metres required to break the world record without spilling any of the beer. Despite his efforts, just 15 metres into his attempt, one of the beers fell.

Hopes dashed

Speaking about the feat, Struempfel told reporters: “Of course, my concentration slipped a little because the world record was already over there, and then the others who were at the top fell down too.”

He arrived at the table at the end with only 17 beer glasses full and left intact it for consumption. Sadly, not breaking the world record, but still with his dignity and sense of humour intact. After all, back in 2017, Struempfel, had already set a world record by successfully carrying 29 steins.
