Sessions Arts Club revives a Catalan classic

Head of wine, Sophie Liverman (pictured), continues Sessions Arts Club’s Lost Wines project with Lost Xarel·lo Vol. 2, a 2021 vintage uncovered at revived Penedès estate, Can Sumoi. Just 200 biodynamic bottles give this once-overlooked Catalan grape a new voice, available at the restaurant.
Carlsberg counts 22,000 beers for International Beer Day

Marking one of its most significant calendar events, Carlsberg has undertaken its annual ‘beer count’, cataloguing over 22,000 unopened bottles stored at the Home of Carlsberg in Copenhagen. The collection, believed to be the largest of its kind, features rare beers dating back as far as 1883, including the Carlsberg Royal Lager 1932 and the legendary Ratcliff Ale. “It’s not just about volume; it’s about preserving brewing history and innovation,” said Lynsey Woods, global brand director at Carlsberg.
Rioja elects its first female president

Raquel Pérez Cuevas (pictured) has been elected as the first female president of the DOCa Rioja Regulatory Council, securing 99% of the vote. CEO of Bodegas Ontañón Familia and president of Grupo Rioja, Pérez Cuevas, takes the helm at a pivotal time as the region faces falling sales, surplus wine and production limits. She has pledged to unify Rioja’s 13,000 growers and 600 wineries to continue producing “the best wines in the world”.
