Sotheby’s hosts sale of HK$10m Albert Yeung wine collection
Hong Kong property tycoon Albert Yeung Sau-shing is selling his wine collection, valued at more than HK$10 million (£954,000), via Sotheby’s this September.

The public auction, which will take place as a live sale at 3pm HKT on 10 September, features just 426 bottles worth more than HK$10m.
George Lacey, Head of Wine, Asia for Sotheby’s, said of the sale: “This is not a high volume cellar, but one with an emphasis on only the most remarkable jewels of the wine world.”
He described Yeung’s collection as having been curated with “meticulous care”, adding: “Truly, there are only icons to be found here.”
Yeung is the founder and chairman of both Emperor Group and the Spring Roll Food Factory.
Having begun as a watch retailer, Emperor Group has expanded into a group of businesses that includes property, financial services, watch and jewellery, entertainment and culture, hospitality, digital media and furniture.

Yeung’s private wine collection features a selection of Bordeaux including, from the Right Bank, Petrus spanning from 1966 to 2011 in different formats, alongside Le Pin 1982 and the Latour à Pomerol 1947 and 1948.
From the Left Bank, Yeung’s collection features an offering of First Growths including Haut Brion and Mouton Rothschild’s iconic vintages in rare large formats.
The business tycoon’s Left Bank collection also includes Lafite Rothschild 1982, 1985 and 2000s.
“Adding to the excitement is the remarkable appearance of pristine bottles of Palmer 1961 from the famous reconditioning that took place under the care of Palmer’s team at the Hotel Lisboa, Macau in 2005,” Sotheby’s has said.
The collection also includes 91 lots from Burgundy, including some of the most prestige Grand Crus of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. The lineup is principally led by wines from the 1980s-2000s, including Romanée-Conti 1990 and bottles from Montrachet. In addition, the collection also features several vintages from Henri Jayer’s famed Cros Parantoux and Echezeaux.
