Champion Breweries sees revenue boost and makes eco plans

Nigeria’s Champion Breweries has declared how it has increased its revenue and also revealed its future sustainability plans.

Speaking to local press about the company’s recent successes, Champion Breweries managing director Dr Inalegwu Adoga said: “We posted NGN7 billion (US$4.6 million) in 2023 and NGN21 billion (US$13.7 million) last year and then also increased profit after tax by 121%.”

Adoga explained: “Last year was very good for us and this has not happened before” but insisted that he felt it was “necessary to make a statement of dominance” while the company does what it can to “elevate our game and optimise our momentum”.

Flagging the brewery’s popularity, Adoga emphasised: “Our product leadership in Akwa Ibom cannot be contested. Champion is the official beverage of Akwa Ibom State. We are sincerely touched by the loyalty and support of our customers” and noted how its beers that were packaged in cans were popular due to their “convenience to take away”.

Adoga revealed how much he valued the business’s “esteemed consumers who remain the heartbeat and compass of our business” and reiterated the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility and operational sustainability.

Agoda also officially announced that the brewery is “also going solar and green soon” a move that he insisted was down to the business’s “eco-friendly core values”.

Describing why it made sense, Agoda explained: “While it is a no-brainer, going solar will cut the cost of our production, our primary objective is to sufficiently decarbonise our operations because it is the right thing to do to curtail environmental pollution and save planet earth for generations to come.”

Noting the challenges the sector had seen across the globe, Agoda admitted that he did not take the progress the business had made lightly and added: “Champion Breweries has done remarkably well in the market. In the consumer food sector in which we operate, we are the only brewery company which has done remarkably in these past years.”
