Why Mobland star ‘always keeps a bottle of Champagne in the fridge’
Emmett J. Scanlon of Mobland and Peaky Blinders fame explains why keeping a chilled bottle of fizz to hand is all part of his gratitude ritual.

Scanlon, who is currently starring alongside Tom Hardy and Pierce Brosnan in Paramount TV series Mobland, took to social media this week to explain why it’s essential to remain well-stocked in Champagne.
The Irish actor is currently appearing as character Paul in Mobland. The Guy Ritchie-directed television series, about two warring crime families in London, garnered 2.2 million viewers when it premiered on 30 March 2025, setting a record for the streaming platform and surging to 8.8 million viewers within a week.
Grateful
Posting a photograph of himself on Instagram posing with a bottle of Champagne Gosset, Scanlon explained why having a bottle of the French fizz in his fridge is an absolute must.
“Let me let you in on a little tradition. I like to keep a bottle of fizz in my fridge at all times,” the actor captioned his post.
“Every time I open that fridge door and see that bottle I’m reminded to be grateful…grateful for the good news that’s coming, the good news that’s already here.”
Continuing, Scanlon joked that he is “always drowning, or attempting to drown myself in thanks.”
The actor, who played Billy Grade in Peaky Blinders, then added what has become his go-to catchphrase.
“Whatever your poison my friends, keep her chilled, keep on poppin and always, ALWAYS restockin…”
At the time of writing the post has racked up more than 10.7k likes, and seems to resonate with the actor’s followers, with many taking to the comments section to agree.
“What a wonderful way to stay grateful and hopeful. I’m going to try it,” commented @joannedawson1.
Meanwhile, @whitters17 wrote: “I love this tradition and have done the same. It makes you work hard for what you want.”
A third fan commented that they go one step further and keep all the corks from Champagne bottles “in a storm jar to remind us of all the good things in our life.”
@the_ceono stressed the importance of being prepared for good news at all times. “My favourite phrase is ‘even on a Wednesday! Meaning anything can happen, anything great, even on a Wednesday. As it happens, it happened on a Tuesday this week!”
“We should all live by this,” wrote @louise2110.
Favourite brands
It’s not the first time Scanlon has expressed his gratitude through Champagne. He has done the same almost every month this year. In April he posted a photo of a bottle of Champagne Pol Roger 2015 next to two filled glasses to tease his next business project.
“Life is either a daring adventure or it’s fuckin nothing,” he wrote in the caption. “With that said, this next adventure is going to be a lot of me jumping off that metaphorical cliff and building my wings on the way down. Free falling into the unknown.”
The previous month, March 2025, the actor had posted a photo of himself brandishing a bottle of Veuve Clicquot and a matte black Champagne flute, saying again:
“Whatever your poison my friends, I hope you keep her chilled, keep on poppin and always fuckin restockin.’
He took the same approach with a bottle of Moet & Chandon in February, posting: “Today’s news blew the bloody fridge doors off!”
And not to be left out, Lanson got the same treatment in January this year. “Every time I open that fridge and see that bottle it reminds me to be grateful. I don’t even have to know what I’m being grateful for, just feeling that shit is enough. Some days take longer than others but I never don’t say thank you.”
Scan is also the official ‘voice of Jameson’ for the whisky label’s 2025 advertising campaign.
