Guinness ice cream hits the US
Diageo has teamed up with Van Leeuwen in the US to launch a chocolate chunk French ice cream made with Guinness.

The collaborative release, named Lovely Day for a Guinness, combines Van Leeuwen’s ice cream with Guinness mixed with chocolate chunks.
The limited-edition ice cream was inspired by the ‘Lovely Day for a Guinness’ advertisements of the 1950s and is packaged in a custom carton, echoing this summer’s limited-edition Guinness four-pack which is available on shelves across the US now and reimagines the Guinness toucan art.
Speaking to the drinks business, Guinness director Karissa Downer said: “As Guinness continues to evolve, we’re finding fresh ways to connect with new fans and show up in unexpected moments. This collaboration with Van Leeuwen is a perfect example. It’s a playful twist that captures the spirit of summer and moments of connection at the core of our ‘A Lovely Day’ platform.”
The ice cream will be available in 14oz pints from Van Leeuwen Scoop Shops across the US for US$11.15 or can be bought online at its online store with shipping available within the US for US$12 while supplies last.

Van Leeuwen CEO and co-founder Ben Van Leeuwen said: “At Van Leeuwen, we’re all about making good ice cream that makes you feel good – and what better way to do that than with Guinness? Their bold, smooth flavour is a perfect match for our rich French-style ice cream, and this collab felt like the kind of lovely-day indulgence that summer calls for. It’s unexpected in the best way – and we think people are going to be surprised by how naturally Guinness and ice cream go together.”
Downer told db: “Whether it’s a scoop of ice cream or a classic pint of Guinness, we’re inviting more people in to experience Guinness, wherever and however they choose to enjoy it.”
On select days, the below locations will offer free samples of the Guinness x Van Leeuwen limited-edition “Lovely Day for a Guinness” flavour, served alongside tiny pours of Guinness Draught while supplies last.
