Delamain Cognac unveils limited release of Millésime 1995

Delamain Cognac has released a limited edition 30-year-old cognac from Grande Champagne, of only 800 bottles, as part of the company’s prestigious Pléiade collection.

The limited release Millésime 1995 cognac offers a “unique expression from a single year and specific place”, the company said, reflecting the “exceptional” 1995 vintage in Grande Champagne.

The conditions during the year were optimal, with a  sunny spring and warm dry summer that gave an abundant harvest of “perfectly ripe grapes”. The resulting wines were rich and concentrated with a good balance between acidity and alcohol, providing “extraordinary ageing potential” to the distilled eau-de-vie.

The cognac was aged for 20 years in a BNIC certified vintage cellar in Ambleville, followed by ten years in Delamain’s vintage cellar, before being bottled with no added sugar or colouring.

It will now be part of Delamain Pléiades Collection, the houses’ collection of rare cognacs that are personally selected by  9th generation Cellar Master, Charles Braastad (the former MD who took over from Dominique Touteau in August 2023) for their exceptional flavour profiles, which “embody the unique style and savoir-faire of the House”.

Braastad said he was delighted to present the Millésime 1995 as the most recent addition to the range. “This limited-edition release has such a vibrant flavour profile, bursting with fresh fruity notes. It reminds me of an evening stroll in the countryside.”

The Delamain Millésime 1995 will available in the UK with an RSP of £460.

Last October the house of Delamain celebrated its bicentenary with two commemorative bottlings of a blend of some of its most prized eaux-de-vies (including the 1947, 1893, 1914, 1965 and 1969, each representing a different generation of Delamain’s history). 200 bottles of the L’Édition Rare du Bicentenaire were released, along with a 10-litre dame-jeanne that achieved €93,000 at Bonhams in December.
