Majestic organic wine sales jump 22% year on year
UK wine retailer Majestic has reported a jump in organic wine sales, and predicts that the trend will double over the next three years as consumers engage with “planet-friendly purchases”, COO Rob Cooke has said.
Majestic has announced that sales of its organic wines climbed 22% in the first five months of this financial year, compared to the same period a year ago.
This equates to a rise of more than a fifth, and Majestic predicts that sales of its organic wines will double across the next three years.
The wine retailer has expanded its core organic range from 50 to 67 offerings to meet growing demand. These wines are available to retail customers and on-trade partners.
Rob Cooke, Majestic COO, said that demand for organic wines continues to grow “at pace”, both “from people shopping in our stores and from our portfolio of on-trade partners”.
“Attitudes are clearly changing as consumers make more planet-friendly purchases,” he said. “We’ve already seen a huge uplift in organic sales, and that’s a trend we believe will continue in the years to come. Our mission at Majestic is to help our customers discover and buy wines they will love, and so we need to invest in the right products at the right time to deliver on that pledge.”
Provence Rosé is Majestic’s best-selling organic category, with producers such as Peyrassol and Château de Berne undertaking organic conversion at their vineyards.
Peyrassol ‘Reserve du Templiers’ is Majestic’s best-selling organic product, the company has revealed.
Other products seeing success include alcohol-free Noughty 0% Organic Sparkling Chardonnay, sales of which have climbed 116% year-on-year. Following its success, Majestic brought Noughty’s Sparkling Rosé into the range earlier this month.
In other news, Majestic recently secured a partnership with Uber Eats, enabling customers to order direct to their homes in time for Christmas. Read more on that story here.
