Laurent-Perrier partners with ‘world’s newest airline’

Champagne Laurent-Perrier has announced that it will be teaming up with Global Airlines, a new UK-based air passenger carrier.

Global Airlines was officially founded in 2021 by James Asquith, but it only really took off this year with the acquisition of a number of A380 aircraft, which the company describes as “the world’s most comfortable aircraft”. Its first Transatlantic flights from London Gatwick are expected to happen next year.

The airline, which has already announced a partnership with American Express, served Laurent-Perrier at its ‘Welcome Onboard’ launch party last month in London. Now, Laurent-Perrier and Global Airlines have reached a ‘memorandum of understanding’ (MOU).

Asquith said of the partnership: “A great Champagne is a huge part of an amazing onboard experience and I am delighted that Laurent-Perrier has agreed to be our partner.”

“It is a brand that is known the world over, and our intention is to offer LP brands to passengers across our three cabins, and, if we can make it work, that absolutely includes in economy,” Asquith added.

Global Airlines shared that it would be training its crews to correctly serve the Champagne.

Laurent-Perrier travel retail director Jean-Christian de la Chevalerie said: “Global’s vision for air travel is compelling, and one that perfectly aligns with Laurent-Perrier’s. In the months ahead, we look forward to working with James and his team on selecting a range of our award-winning Champagnes, but not only that, exploring how we can make this a really unique, meaningful, partnership that excites our customers.”

American Airlines recently announced that it would actually be switching its business class sparkling wine offering from Champagne to Trento DOC.

While being greeted with a glass of bubbly when you get onboard is undoubtedly a nice experience, fizz is not the best drink to sip on when up in the air, according to science.
