Buckingham Palace launches Coronation gin with Windsor raspberries

What tipple pairs perfectly with the new King’s coronation? Pink gin, apparently. The Royal Collection Trust, a department of the Royal Household, has launched a gin infused with raspberries grown at Windsor Castle to mark the event.

Royal Windsor Pink Gin was released by the Royal Collection Trust last week, described by the Royal Household as the “perfect accompaniment” to Coronation celebrations due to take place on 6 May.

The pink drink is infused with hand-picked raspberries from across the Royal Estate in Windsor, giving it its vibrant hue.

Raspberries also provide a “fruity finish”, according to the Royal Household, which offsets the spiced notes of pink peppercorns and cassia bark. Orange peel and rose petal also add sweetness to the blend.

The recommended serving suggestion is to pour 50ml of Royal Windsor Gin over muddled raspberries in a martini glass, and top up with 100ml of pineapple juice.

In 2020 the Royal Household saw success with the launch of its London Dry Gin, made with botanicals found in the palace grounds, including hawthorn berries and mulberry leaves, which sold out in just eight hours.

There were also whispers of a pub opening on the Royal Family’s Sandringham Estate, Norfolk, with plans to recruit someone to run the royal drinking den.
