Plans for new County Dublin distillery approved
Plans for a new €100 million whiskey distillery in Balbriggan, County Dublin, submitted by Harvest Lodge Distilleries LTD have been approved by Fingal County Council.
Planning permission for the new distillery, to be situated in the Stephenstown townland outside of Balbriggan, was submitted in December 2021, with Cassidy Consultants as the lead architects on the project. At the time, principal consultant for the Drogheda-based architecture firm Andrew Cassidy said: “Harvest Lodge Distillery is a new company set up for this development but the people behind the venture have a lot of experience in the whiskey industry.”
The new site will cause a buzz by producing its own honey whiskey in tribute to the area’s history of beekeeping and mead making.
Independent local councillor Tony Murphy said: ““The development will consist of a distillery which includes the provision of an ancillary visitor centre which will be a major boost to the local economy.”
“This exciting new project will involve an investment of €100 million for the town of Balbriggan and will generate approximately 150 jobs on completion. The project will be phased over 2 years and will also generate a tourism proposition for Balbriggan with expected annual visitors to the Harvest Lodge Distillery of over 50,000. This will also enhance other heritage sites in the area,” he added.

It is expected to be full operational in the next 18 to 24 months.
