George Clooney’s Casamigos turns Sydney rooftop into Tequila paradise
Casamigos Tequila, founded by George Clooney and Rande Gerber, is set to turn a Sydney rooftop bar into a Tequila paradise.
The top-end Tequila, which Clooney and Gerber sold to drinks giant Diageo in 2017 for US$1 billion, will collaborate with Zephyr, the popular Darling Harbour rooftop bar in the lead-up to the brand’s expansion across Australia.
As part of the tie-up, the bar will offer a limited-edition food and cocktail menu for guests as well as a Casamigos archway for attendees to snap a selfies under while sipping on Casamigos at sunset.
Three Zephyr x Casamigos cocktails, which have been curated in collaboration with Zephyr and Diageo brand ambassador Kate McGraw, will be added to the menu – including a ‘Tequila Colada Slushie’ made with Casamigos Blanco and maraschino liqueur and a ‘Supersonic Jalisco’ made using Casamigos Anejo and a ‘Sonic Cherry Belsazar’.
Zephyr and Casamigos are additionally inviting guests to an exclusive Tequila-tasting event on the evening of 24 February for AUS$79 per person which will include a cocktail, a Tequila flight, a slushie as well as a range of Mexican food and canapés. However, all other visitors can experience the Casamigos takeover until 20 March and are encouraged to share their experiences of the rooftop takeover on social media using the hashtag #ZephyrXCasamigos to broaden the reach of the brand.
At the end of 2020, Casamigos, became a one million case brand, securing its premium spot amongst celebrity drinks brands.
Founded in 2013 by Clooney, Gerber and their business partner Mike Meldman, Casamigos meaning ‘house of friends’ in Spanish, started out as a pet project to enjoy with friends and family, but quickly earned the celebrity seal of approval, becoming the fastest-growing super premium Tequila brand in the US.
The small batch ‘ultra-premium’ Tequilas within the Casamigos range are made from hand-selected 100% Blue Weber agave grown in the red clay soils of Mexico’s Jalisco Highlands for a minimum of seven years.
Zephyr has already begun taking bookings for the Casamigos x Zephyr exclusive Tequila tasting event via its website and invites all fans of Tequila in the Sydney area to book in to sample the limited edition cocktail menu while it is available.
