Cristal releases Vinothèque 1999

Champagne house Louis Roederer has released the latest vintage of its extra-aged Cristal, the 1999 Vinothèque.

The newest release follows on from the 1995 and 1996 vintages which were released three years ago when the programme was officially launched.

The wines in the Vinothèque series are bottles of the house’s prestige cuvée, Cristal, that are held back for a minimum of 20 years ageing in the cellars before release.

The wines initially spend anywhere from eight to 12 years on their lees, before another five to 10 years of ageing ‘sur pointe’ – riddled but still undisgorged’ – before being disgorged and then aged for a further two to six years.

The wine is available in both white and rosé.
